Join us for our Yearly Spring Sketch Crawl!

Grab your sketchbook and hit the streets with us! The Annapolis Arts Alliance’s Spring 2026 Sketch Crawl is a free, urban sketching adventure through some of Annapolis’s most stunning historic landmarks.

On Saturday, May 16 from 12 Noon to 4 PM, we’ll wind our way from Lawyer’s Mall to the iconic State House to the charming shops and views along Maryland Avenue — drawing, painting, and photographing everything that catches our eye. All skill levels welcome. All you need is your creativity and a sense of adventure!

Got questions? Well, we’ve got answers. See our list of common FAQs below.

What’s a Sketch Crawl, anyway?
Think of it as a moving art studio. We wander through streets, parks, and hidden corners, pausing to capture what catches our eye—in lines, doodles, or full-on sketches.

Do I have to be “good” at drawing?
Nope. This event is about curiosity, not perfection. Beginners, doodlers, and seasoned artists are all welcome. The only requirement is a willingness to try and have fun.

What should I bring along?
Pack a sketchbook (any size or style you like) and your favorite drawing tools: pencil, pen, marker, watercolor kit, even crayons if that’s your jam. A water bottle and a snack are always a good idea, and if you’d like a comfy seat, bring along a small folding stool or cushion.

How long do we walk?
About 2 hours. We’ll stroll, pause to sketch, then meander on. It’s an easy pace, more wandering than trekking.

Where do we meet?
We’ll kick things off at Lawyer’s Mall located at 25 Calvert Street in Annapolis.

What if it rains?
We’ll still be there! The event runs rain or shine, so just bring along an umbrella or a comfy rain jacket if it looks like it might rain. A little weather won’t stop our creativity!

Is there a cost?
Zero dollars. Infinite inspiration.

Can kids come along?
Absolutely. Young sketchers are some of the most fearless! Just be sure they’re with an adult, and let them bring their own tools.

Are supplies included?
Bring what you love to draw with. If you’re missing something, email Mary Rosoff (maryerosoff@gmail.com) and we’ll try to help.

Do I have to show my drawings?
Only if you want to. At the end, we usually gather in a circle to peek at each other’s pages. It’s about encouragement, not judgment.

Can I just take photos?
Of course. But try sketching too, even a quick doodle slows you down in a magical way that photos can’t.

Who can I contact if I have more questions?
Mary Rosoff is your go-to for all things Sketch Crawl. She can be reached at (maryerosoff@gmail.com.
